New Feature: Business Alias for Multi-Location Businesses

Friday, March 13, 2026

Managing multiple business locations can quickly become confusing, especially when every location uses the same Google Business Profile name. To make this easier, we have introduced a new feature in GMB Radar called Business Alias.

Set business alias in gmbradar

This feature allows you to assign an internal name to each location so you can easily recognize it inside your dashboard and reports.

Why This Feature Was Needed

Many companies operate dozens or even hundreds of locations under the same brand name. When these businesses are added to a local ranking tracker like GMB Radar, they may appear identical at first glance.

For example:

  • Bright Dental Clinic
  • Bright Dental Clinic
  • Bright Dental Clinic
  • Bright Dental Clinic

Even though each location has a different address, it can still be difficult to quickly identify the correct location when reviewing scans and reports.

The Business Alias feature solves this problem by allowing you to assign a custom label to each business.

What is a Business Alias?

A Business Alias is an internal name used only inside your GMB Radar dashboard.

  • It does not change the Google Business Profile name.
  • It is visible only inside your GMB Radar account.
  • It helps you organize and identify locations faster.

Example aliases:

  • Chicago – Downtown
  • Dallas – North Branch
  • New York – Midtown Office

How to Set an Alias When Adding a Business

When adding a new business to GMB Radar, you can create an alias during the setup process.

  1. Go to Add New Business.
  2. Confirm the business details.
  3. Locate the Alias field in the Internal Settings section.
  4. Enter a custom location name.
  5. Click Save Business.

If you leave the alias field empty, GMB Radar will automatically use the Google Business Profile name.

How to Change an Alias Later

You can also update the alias at any time from the scan report page.

  1. Open the Scan Report for the business.
  2. Click the More Options button.
  3. Select Set Business Alias.
  4. Enter your new alias.
  5. Save the change.

The updated alias will immediately appear in your reports and dashboard.

Best Practices for Business Aliases

To keep your dashboard organized, we recommend including a location identifier in your alias.

  • City name
  • Neighborhood
  • Branch number
  • Internal location name

Examples:

  • Los Angeles – West Branch
  • Toronto – Downtown
  • Houston – Branch #3

Benefits of Using Business Alias

  • Easily identify locations with the same business name
  • Reduce confusion when reviewing scan reports
  • Organize multi-location businesses more effectively
  • Keep your Google Business Profile names unchanged

Final Thoughts

The new Business Alias feature makes it easier to manage businesses that share the same name across different locations. It keeps your dashboard organized while ensuring your Google Business Profile data remains untouched.

If you manage multiple locations in GMB Radar, we recommend setting aliases for each business to make reporting and analysis much easier.
